Gunman Takes Aim At Florida Pipeline Site

Sunday morning an unidentified man, armed with a rifle, opened fire at construction equipment used for the Sabal Trail Pipeline (STP). The gunman was fatally shot by police after he waved his gun at them following a chase:

The shooting occurred on U.S. 41 south of Floral Park Drive in Floral City after a chase that began in northern Citrus County. The chase started after reports of shots being fired around 9 a.m. Sunday at the pipeline construction site along State Road 200 in Marion County.

Today, Sabal Trail Resistance activists held a morning vigil for the gunman, holding signs saying “kill pipelines not people:”

The gunman’s attack left bullet holes on the pipeline and construction equipment on the site, as reported by The Gainesville Sun.

The Sabal Trail Pipeline (STP) is the latest target of radical environmentalists. The 3.2 billion dollar, 515-mile pipeline will transport natural gas from Alabama, Georgia and parts of Florida.
