Americans Aren’t Noticing Companies’ Green Initiatives
A recent Morning Consult poll shows U.S. companies’ green initiatives aren’t registering with consumers.
A majority of U.S. adults said they value sustainability policies, but a majority of them had heard “not much” or “nothing at all” about initiatives by major companies.
A public opinion analyst said Americans are “passive environmentalists,” not active ones:
“Americans are clearly passive environmentalists,” Karlyn Bowman, a public opinion analyst with the American Enterprise Institute in Washington, said in a phone interview. “They certainly like the idea of companies doing things to benefit the environment, but it’s not surprising that their awareness — most people’s awareness of what companies are actually doing — is pretty low.”
