False & Radical Claims From Enviros At Socialist Conference

Over the weekend, Yolanda Bluehorse, a Texas environmental leader took advantage of her speaking opportunity at a socialist conference to perpetuate false claims about oil and gas development in West Texas. Speaking at a conference held by the “revolutionary socialist” group, Solidarity, Bluehorse of the Society of Native Nations, an indigenous-led environmental group in Texas, claimed that the oil and gas industry was planning to “dig up” Balmorhea:

“Currently, there is another camp down there in Balmorhea, there is a natural spring that is down there that provides gallons of freshwater to the people out there and it’s getting ready to get bulldozed through.”

Apache Corporation, the oil and gas company located near Balmorhea has already debunked this fear-mongering claim, with Apache’s Manager of External Engagement stating:

“We have already promised that we will not drill in Balmorhea city limits or under them nor are we going to drill in the springs or around them.”

False and inflammatory claims were commonplace at Solidarity’s conference, as the moderator of the panel that included Bluehorse called for the dismantling of the United States in his closing statement to roaring applause:

“At least in my vision–in my kind of crazy, radical vision, I would hope that one day this country called the United States ceases to exist.”
