Prominent Donor To Clinton And Environmentalist Left Spending $100 Million On Democratic GOTV

The Washington Free Beacon reported Thursday that a leaked memo reveals billionaire Hansjörg Wyss is spending $100 million on get-out-the-vote (GOTV) efforts for the Democratic Party. Wyss is a Hillary Clinton donor and his foundation has given millions to the Environmentalist Left.

The report is the latest indication that Clinton and the Democratic Party are cozying up to the Environmentalist Left, no matter how far to the left it pulls the party.

The Free Beacon uncovers the extent of Wyss’ commitment:

According to the memo, the Wyss Foundation initially planned to spend $100 million over the next five years on voter registration, outreach, organizing, and legal and policy advocacy on voting laws.

The memo was shared with the Democratic National Committee (DNC), and is “one of a number of internal documents released by a hacker” who recently infiltrated the DNC’s network.

A Core News analysis of The Wyss Foundation reveals the extent to which Wyss bankrolls the Environmentalist Left. From 2002 through 2014, the Wyss Foundation gave at least $3.6 million to EarthJustice, $1.5 million to the League of Conservation Voters, $1.3 million to the Sierra Club, $950,000 to the Natural Resources Defense Council (NRDC), and $10,000 to Greenpeace.

The foundation gave a staggering $44 million to the Nature Conservancy in 2014 alone, along with major donations to Oceana ($1.5 million) and the Tides Center ($420,000).

Wyss himself is the subject of recent controversy. The Daily Caller reported in December:

Hansjorg Wyss, a prominent Clinton foundation donor and wealthy bankroller of liberal activist groups, will face charges of running a “criminal profiteering enterprise” through the illegal use of a drug and in violation of federal patient safety rules that resulted in the death of a 67-year old woman, The Daily Caller News Foundation has learned.

Wyss also faced scrutiny earlier this year for his tens of thousands of dollars in donations to U.S. political candidates – he is a foreign national, so he should not be able to contribute to U.S. candidates.
